ABSTRACT
This study was carried out on the effect of ATM technology in Nigeria banking industry using Sky bank as case study. To achieve this 7 research questions were formulated. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprise of the entire Staff of Polaris Bank Enugu North Branch, Enugu State. In determining the sample size, the researcher purposively selected 35 respondents while 30 respondents were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables and percentage. While the hypothesis were tested using Chi-square statistical too. SPSS v23. The result of the findings reveals that; it does not take too long to complete withdraw process on ATM; ATM is safe and reliable for customers use; One can withdraw money at any time through the use of ATM; The retrieval process of forgotten PIN Code is slow; ATM technology is essentially necessary for the survival of banking industry; ATM technology is the alternative to reduce queues that characterize the country's banking hall; ATM has improved bank service effectiveness. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended that the banks can employ customized software that records relevant information on ATM cards so that banks can establish whether unauthorized transaction has taken place or not; Banking Sector should also improve the quality of their services by ensuring that pressing urgent needs such like the retrieval of forgotten PIN CODES are delivered as at when it is needed most.
